Crafting

I have spent the last few days enjoying some crafting and pampering from my mom. She has cooked for us, helped with Caden, and most importantly helped me create the crafts that have lived in my head for quite some time. It is always helpful to have her experience in crafting and home projects when attempting something new.

The first craft we went after was this old-fashioned ruler growth chart for Caden and Brynna. I say "we" but mom did all the work. She marked it, painted it, everything. I simply gave my approval.

Sorry that the pictures are not that great but I didn't want to retake them (the Cason's will have to forgive me)! If you like this idea, I stole it from another blog Naptime Decorator. She explains exactly how do it so I won't waste time typing in instructions.

While Mom did that, I tackled my most intense project...the foot stool. This took a lot more time than I thought it would (to be specific....it took me most of the day). I copied ideas from Pintrest and the overall theme of Brynna's room.

The other major project that I did was a canvas that we wanted to put over Brynna's bed. This was a scary project for me because I do not consider myself a painter but I think it turned out great despite my inadequacies. The flowers and butterfly are small pillows that came with the bedding. I simply attached them with glue dots. (Again, my mom's expertise playing a major part in making my vision come to life.)

And here is how Brynna's room is coming along so far. I've added some trim to the two lamps that were in the nursery before. And yes, the white lamp is not finished yet. It still needs the upper trim but the lower trim was wet and needed to dry when I was taking pictures.

There are still things left to do in both Brynna and Caden's rooms but I was glad at the progress made in just two days. I have to constantly remind myself that there are always projects left to do and that I have to leave them for another day.

I am so thankful that my mom was willing to help bring my visions to life and most importantly for her love and support.
