Tuesday was a wonderful day....Wee School started, which means a bit of mommy freedom and work time. Yeah! It also meant that I was determined to take wonderful first day pictures...just like all the ones I've seen on Facebook or have pinned on my Pinterest boards. Yep, that is exactly what I was going to do.
And then....
Meltdown! Caden refused to take the picture mainly because I wanted him to and Brynna was more interested in putting her hand in the chalk than saying "cheese" for me.
I wanted to be frustrated but I couldn't. They are so cute and then Brynna did this...
I was shocked that she put her backpack on and that she could actually walk! She is constantly amazing me with her independent spirit. She is almost 18 months but she thinks she is almost 18!
When I was talking about it with Aaron later that night, my hubby challenged me to stop trying to make great photo ops but instead enjoy the great memories that come. I'll still probably try to make good photos because I love looking back at them but the principle was a great reminder. We can all get overwhelmed by what we seeing other moms doing or pinteresting but what matters is the moments we have with our kids. So, I'm going to embrace the imperfection of mothering a stubborn and sweet preschooler and an adventurous and destructive toddler.
